ALYTH:

A coffee morning held in Alyth’s Airlie Street hall raised £1,110.45 for the Cornhill Macmillan Centre. Organisers have thanked everyone who contribute­d to the success of the event.

NEWBURGH:

The Orchard Group will hold a market today, selling different varieties of apples and pears, several of which are not available in the shops.

There will also be a selection of homemade jams and chutneys on offer

All of the fruit is grown in the private gardens of Newburgh and proceeds from the markets go back to the fruit growers to encourage them to look after their trees and maintain their centuries-old orchard heritage.

The market will be on the High Street from 9.30am to noon.

PERTH:

The Blythswood truck will be in Asda car park from 11.30am to 1.30pm on Tuesday when donations of clothes, shoes, books, toys, blankets, bric-abrac and small items of furniture can be left.

Shoe box leaflets and wrapped boxes for a donation will be available at the truck from support group members.

ADVENTURE:

A new “open” group for the Duke of Edinburgh Award is to start in Perth.

The group will be for young people with additional support needs.

An informatio­n meeting will be held on Wednesday from 7–8.30pm at Willowgate Outdoor Centre, Perth.

The organisati­on hopes to start up similar groups in other towns in Perth and Kinross in the future so that no one who wants to take part misses out.

CANCER:

The next meeting of the Perth and Kinross Prostate Cancer Support Group will be held on Tuesday in the Salutation Hotel at 1.30pm.

The speaker will be Irene McLellan from charity Circle of Comfort.
