BLAIRADAM. President Rena Beveridge introduced Dave Bywater, a consultant paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service, who spoke about the Sandpiper Trust.

BUTTERSTON­E. Members visited Pitlochry Theatre to see High Society, following a meal in the theatre restaurant. Whist drives will start again on the first Wednesday of the month for the next six months.

KINGLANDS. Following the death of long time president Margaret Cummings an extraordin­ary meeting was held to decide to move forward with so few active members and with the hall due to close for renovation­s. New members are very welcome and non-members, both male and female, are welcome come to any meetings. MID ATHOLL & STRATHTAY. Mrs Still welcomed Fiona Mathews who spoke on dementia. Competitio­ns: tablet – 1 I McWilliam, 2 E Robertson; child’s jumper – 1 H Evans, 2 I McWilliam, 3 F Davidson.

MILNATHORT. President Jean Paterson welcomed members to the 100th birthday celebratio­n in the town hall. The birthday cake was cut by longest serving member Ena Thomson. Long service awards were presented to Grace Drysdale and May Paterson. Gordon Menzies entertaine­d.

PITCAIRNGR­EEN. President Audrey Michie introduced Andy Patterson, who gave a presentati­on entitled Caricature­s. Competitio­ns: jar of raspberry jam – 1 A Michie, 2 I Stewart; comical photograph – 1 A Michie, 2 I Hutchison.

PITLOCHRY. The institute celebrated its 98th year in the Aldour Hall and enjoyed a display of goods from Pitlochry Knitwear and James Pringle. Prizes from the Aberfeldy Show were presented to G Wilkie, who won first prize for her blackcurra­nt jelly, and to J King, who received a silver salver for the best entry in the show with her brown rolls. Competitio­ns: something new from old – 1 J King, 2 K Scott; cupcakes – 1 M Gunner, 2 K Scott, 3 G Wilkie and J King.

STANLEY. C Lammie introduced Gair Forbes who gave a talk on the Scottish Air Ambulance Service. Competitio­ns: tea towel – 1 O Tibit, 2 L Jolly, 3 E Valentine; house plant – 1 J Gill, 2 L Fermor, 3 K Baldie; flower of the month – 1 C Lammie, 2 M Rennie, 3 L Fermor.
