Carers support event in Perth
An event to celebrate the role of unpaid carers will take place in Perth next month.
The Perth and Kinross Carers Conference will be opened by local councillor Willie Wilson.
The annual gathering recognises the contribution carers make to society.
PKAVS, NHS Tayside, and Perth and Kinross Council will host this year’s conference, which will focus on topics including the Carers Positive initiative, respite for carers and an update on the new Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.
It will also feature interactive workshops on topics such as technology-enabled care, body-boosting bingo and mindfulness, with an upbeat musical performance to close the event.
PKAVS Carers Hub supports hundreds of unpaid carers across Perth and Kinross.
All professionals and carers are welcome to attend and assistance with respite and travel options will be available.
More than 30 organisations have confirmed they will take information stalls, and the council hopes the event will provide a networking opportunity for both carers and organisations, helping them to feel supported in their roles.
The carers conference will be held at Dewar’s Centre, Perth, on Thursday November 16 from 9.30am-3.30pm.
Booking is essential. Anyone interested can contact Marlena Nowaczyk from PKAVS on 01738 567076 or Marlena. Nowaczyk@pkavs.org.uk.
