INCIDENT: Part of Perth High Street was cordoned off after reports of a person in the River Tay. Four fire units, the technical rescue unit, ambulance and police attended shortly after 4.30pm yesterday, but were quickly stood down after it was ascertaine­d to be a false alarm.

CRAFT FAIR: Perth Methodists are holding a craft fair at Scott Street on Saturday October 21 from 10am to 2pm. There will be crafts, a café, baking and book stalls.

MS SOCIETY: A quiz to raise funds for the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society will be held in the Letham Community Club, Perth, on Tuesday November 7 at 7pm for 7.30pm.

The cost is £5 per head and can be paid at the door but people taking part are asked to phone Alison on 01738 621981 to allow the organisers to know numbers in advance.

PITCAIRNGR­EEN: The 15th autumn craft fair will be held in Pitcairngr­een Village Hall on Saturday October 21 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Stalls will include local honey and Christmas decoration­s.

COFFEE MORNING: Craigie and Moncreiffe Church is holding a coffee morning in Craigie Church Hall, Abbot Street, Perth, on Saturday between 10am and noon.

ALYTH: Angus Crafts Associatio­n is spreading its wings with a new venue for its arts and crafts market which will take place in Alyth Town Hall on Saturday October 21 from 10am.

BALBEGGIE: An Animal Welfare sale in aid of cats and other animals is being held on Friday November 3 from 10am to 4pm in St Martin’s Public Hall, Balbeggie. The Brownies will also have a stall to raise funds. Goods include Christmas items, bric-a-brac, books, CDs, toys, jewellery and plants as well as a tombola and raffle.

MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT: The 21st Stuart Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament took place at Scotscraig Golf Club, Tayport. Ninety-two players took part, with the winning team being the PoorOot Lads captained by Donald Macgregor from Perth. Funds raised will be used to help people with cystic fibrosis and other chronic conditions.
