Wanderers seek shock
Dundee Wanderers face another difficult match, this time against Kelburne, but at least they have home advantage at Dalnacraig while they were away to Grange last week, writes our men’s hockey correspondent.
They will not go into this match prepared to accept defeat, but survival in division 1 will not depend on these results but those against the rest.
Kelburne are back after two defeats in the EuroHockey league but will be very much up to speed after those experiences and chasing yet another Scottish title.
St Andrews University and Perthshire are well placed in division 2 but the students have the more testing outing away to a Watsonians team intent on gaining promotion.
Perthshire are a club very much on the up and seem well set at least for a good mid-table position.
They must first recover their impetus after a 4-1 defeat at Watsonians but can be confident of doing just that against Glasgow University.
The lower half is very much where Harris will be as they are without a win so far. Despite improved performances in their last two matches, that is unlikely to change when leaders Dunfermline Carnegie are the visitors at DISC.
Despite last week’s away defeat to Highland, Monarch are faring reasonably well in division 3. They have another away match at Strathclyde University who prop up the division, so a return to winning ways must be expected for Monarchs.
Menzieshill II are not finding life quite so straightforward this season having moved up to the first regional division.
Grange II are not in their customary position near the top of the division, but will still provide formidable opposition.
