Weir needs assistant as Price opts to stay
Forfar boss Jim Weir is searching for a new assistant after Gavin Price decided to stay at Elgin City.
Price was planning to leave Borough Briggs to move to Station Park with Weir. However he has performed a U-turn after being offered the chance to take over as manager of the League Two side.
In a statement, the Angus club said: “Forfar Athletic have this morning received the news that Gavin Price will not be taking up the role of assistant manager as had been previously announced.
“Gavin has instead decided to remain at Borough Briggs having been offered the post of manager of Elgin City FC.
“Jim Weir will be putting temporary arrangements in place at Station Park pending a new appointment in time.
“In the meantime, Forfar Athletic officials though disappointed with his eventual decision wish Gavin every success in his new post.”
Weir confirmed that Barry Sellars will assist him in his first game against Queen’s Park tomorrow.
He said: “I’m obviously disappointed that Gavin hasn’t decided to join us after he said he would be.
“We struck up a good partnership but I promised him that if an opportunity came up for him to be a number one I wouldn’t stand in his way.
“I’m not going to rush into an appointment and Barry Sellars will help out at Hamdpen.
“He’s been working with the first team recently and we’ll see how that goes.”
