Jerry Sadowitz

Gardyne Theatre, Dundee October 19

If you head along to a Jerry Sadowitz show largely in the dark about his material and wondering why you’ve never seen him on any of those TV panel shows, the opening minutes should answer some questions.

There are few British comics today who can pull the size of crowds Sadowitz attracts while remaining resolutely and unapologetically committed to offending and upsetting those very same punters.

Yet, they lap it up no matter how close-tothe-bone his gags end up.

A cult hero to legions of hardcore fans and many acts in the British comedy firmament (though he’s probably still not so popular with Canadians after some notoriously unprintable onstage remarks he made in Montreal back in 1991), Sadowitz is billed on this tour as “Comedian, Magician, Psychopath!” Chances are you’ll see all three elements of his CV during this show.

Just don’t say you weren’t warned.
