More delays expected as M90 improvements continue
Motorists are being warned to expect delays as eight days of roadworks take place on the M90 between Gairneybridge and Kinross.
A contraflow system and speed restrictions will be in place on a 500-metre stretch of the northbound carriageway as the £290,000 repair programme is carried out.
BEAR Scotland says the improvements will considerably enhance the safety of the stretch, between junctions five and six, which is used by almost 30,000 vehicles a day.
The works are the latest phase in a major overhaul of the M90’s carriageway, flyovers, junctions and sliproads.
Around £1 million has been invested in the road over the past 12 months. The works have meant significant periods of disruption, leading to lengthy queues at peak times.
During the latest surface repairs and improvements, a package of traffic management measures will be in place for the safety of the workforce and motorists.
A contraflow system on the main M90 will be in operation continuously throughout the works to allow for the carriageway repairs to take place.
A 50mph speed limit will also be introduced to safeguard workers until the repairs are completed.
BEAR Scotland’s Andy Thompson said: “This £290,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out maintenance works to ensure our network continues to operate at the highest standard.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We encourage motorists to plan their journey in advance.”
