Smith extends stay at East End Park

-

Callum Smith has set his sights on continuing his international dream after penning a new deal with Dunfermline.

The 17-year-old has made an impressive first-team breakthrough with the Pars this season, making his 15th appearance of the season with his start in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Livingston.

The highly-rated teenager added to his growing club reputation with a double on his debut for the Scotland under-19 side in August and the Pars have moved quickly to tie him to a fresh contract that keeps him at East End Park until May 2020.

He said: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal with the club.

“Three years ago I was just playing boys club football and now l am playing most weeks in the first-team and appearing for Scotland.

“It has been a dream come true and I would like to thank the management team for the faith that they have shown in me.

“I just need to keep working hard. My main objectives are to play more for the club, and hopefully be called up again for Scotland.”

Manager Allan Johnston has praised the young marksman, who has scored three times in his eight starts for the Fifers.

Johnston said: “I am delighted Callum has signed a new contract. He continually works hard to improve his game and has a fantastic attitude.

“Callum is just one of our talented young players that have gone from strength to strength whilst at the club.”
