Kane trains ahead of Madrid tie

-

Harry Kane took part in Tottenham training yesterday morning as he bids to prove his fitness ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

Kane missed Spurs’ defeat at Manchester United on Saturday with a hamstring injury but showed no visible sign of discomfort during a light session at Hotspur Way.

The striker’s return at Wembley would represent a massive boost for Tottenham given Kane has scored five goals in three European games so far.

Tottenham are level on seven points with Real Madrid in Group H after the sides shared a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this month.

● Manchester City remain without captain Vincent Kompany as they travel to Italy to face Napoli tonight.

It was hoped the Belgium defender, who has not played since August due to a calf injury, would return to training this week but the Group F clash at the San Paolo Stadium comes too soon.

● Defender Dejan Lovren is a major doubt for Liverpool’s game at home to Maribor.

The centre-back has not trained since sustaining a thigh injury in the warm-up of Saturday’s win over Huddersfield.

Playmaker Philippe Coutinho is sidelined by an adductor problem but defenders Alberto Moreno (cramp) and Joe Gomez (knock) both trained late yesterday after overcoming issues from the weekend.
