Biker in serious condition after crash in Fife

A motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash with a car in Fife on Saturday.
The biker was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, after the accident on the A917 at Drumeldrie.
The female driver of the car and her daughter were said to be uninjured in the accident but the vehicle was badly damaged.
Locals spoke of seeing numerous emergency vehicles, including police and ambulances as well as the air ambulance, rushing to the scene in the wake of the crash.
The road was closed between Upper Largo and Colinsburgh for six hours to allow for detailed collision investigations at the accident blackspot.
Diversions were in place via Largoward and Cairnie crossroads and the area was extremely busy with traffic for most of the day and into the evening.
The crash is the latest in a recent spate of accidents involving motorcycles.
On Friday afternoon, a 27-year-old man was killed following a collision with a car in Barry, Angus.
Police have yet to identify the victim and said inquiries are ongoing.
The previous week Kennoway man Dave Lohoar died in an accident with two cars on the A93 at Guildtown in Perthshire.
The popular member of the Yesbiker movement was described as a loveable, gentle giant by friends.
Saturday’s accident at Drumeldrie follows thousands of pounds of investment by Fife Council to improve safety on what has been dubbed one of the region’s most dangerous roads.
Members of Levenmouth area committee agreed to a route accident reduction plan after it was revealed there were 113 accidents between Upper Largo and Crail between 2012 and 2014, many of which were at the Drumeldrie corner.
Seven of those resulted in serious injuries.
Local councillor David Alexander said the action had included a reduction in the speed limit, anti-skid treatment on bends and new signs and road markings.
“We are trying to make the roads as safe as we can,” he said.
“This latest accident will be fully investigated and we will get a report back. If more measures need to be taken then they will be.”
A police spokesman said: “Around 12.30pm on Saturday police received a report of a road collision involving two vehicles on the A917.
“One injured party was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where they are being treated for their injuries.
“Inquiries are continuing.”
