Disruption at lights switch-on

-

Residents have been warned to expect some traffic disruption when Perth Christmas lights are switched on.

The festive event will take place on Saturday and will result in Tay Street being closed from 6pm on Friday until midnight on Sunday.

The parade will set off from the top of the Old High Street beside St Paul’s Church at 5.30pm and will move along New Row. It will then head into County Place and continue on to South Street where it will head towards to the River Tay.

A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said: “There will be a rolling road closure in place and this should be completed by 6pm at the latest. This will cause some delays to journeys in the city at this time.”

The Park and Ride will operate an extended timetable on Saturday with journeys operating every 15 minutes until the last departure from Mill Street at 9pm.

On Sunday, service 301 journeys will operate every 15 minutes starting from Broxden Park and Ride at 8.30am with the last journey departing Mill Street at 5.30pm.

Several other bus services will be affected, including the number seven for Scone, numbers three, 11 and 12 for Kinnoull, Gannochy and Scone and number 12 for Hillend.
