GLEN CLOVA HALF-MARATHON GB hill running internatio­nalist Robbie Simpson (Deeside R) and Welsh internatio­nalist Kristian Jones (Dundee Hawkhill) added a touch of class to the Forfar Road Runners’ Glen Clova Half Marathon as they triumphed in a field of 283 finishers. Simpson pulled away from Jones following the opening two miles, carving out a four minutes and 38 second advantage to reach the finish at the Glen Clova Hotel in 68 minutes 01 seconds.

Simpson’s time was narrowly outside the course record of 67.20 set by Fraser Clyne in 1991.

Jones followed in 72.39 while triathlete Andrew Woodroofe – a two-time winner – came in third. Dundee Hawkhill runners dominated the leading positions, placing five runners in the top 10 to easily win the team award.

Anwen Darlington was 14th overall, leading Dundee Road Runners to the women’s team award in 85 minutes 46 seconds.

Fife AC’s Sheena Logan won the Tenerife Marathon in three hours 01 minutes 39 seconds, finishing sixth overall following only one long run in preparatio­n.
