Ex-Ostersund striker in Bluebell squad for trip to Carnoustie

-

Carnoustie Panmure hope to build on last week’s draw at Broxburn when Dundonald Bluebell check in at Laing Park on Super League business today.

Boss Alan McSkimming praised the Gowfers’ character in coming from three down to draw last week and knows the same attitude will be required against the Fifers, who are fifth in the table.

Both Ryan Roche and Jamie Robbie are sidelined for the hosts but Steven Cook is poised to return.

Bluebell have the same squad as last week – plus new signing Lewis Baker from Swedish club Ostersund IFK. He can play wide in midfield or as a striker and previously played for Jeanfield.

Broughty’s good displays against Bonnyrigg and Sauchie, which yielded four points, has set them up nicely for their trip to Bo’ness.

Although the Lothian side are, unusually, in the lower regions of the league, Fed boss Jim Finlayson feels only a continuation of their recent good form will enable them to take something from the game.

Their prospects are enhanced by former Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth, Iain Ross and Derryn Kesson all being back in contention.

Lochee United face Forfar West End at Strathmore Park but are without top scorer Bryan Deasley.

After being injured in a car crash, he missed last week’s East of Scotland Cup tie against Pumpherston and looks set to be sidelined for several weeks.

Even although the Bluebells are also still without Kevin Buchan and Mark Stewart, they will start favourites against their hosts, who have lost all six home games and are cast four points adrift at the foot of the table.

Hill of Beath head to Newtongrange Star hoping to build on last week’s convincing 4-0 win over Camelon.

Haws have only won once in six attempts on the road and are still without suspended duo Aaron Hay and John McCulloch, while Rikki Dair is doubtful. Greg Smith, Jake Mitchell and Michael Perrie are all absent today.

Jeanfield Swifts shared the spoils with Broxburn in their first meeting earlier in the season but the Perth side will hope to make home advantage count today.

Swifts are at full strength with Jamie Reid and Daniel Kelly both fit again.

There is a basement battle at Treaton Park where Kennoway Star Hearts play Sauchie.

Hearts are a point behind the thirdbottom visitors, but with a game in hand its importance to both sides is obvious.

Liam Craig returns for the hosts but interim boss Craig Johnstone will require a late fitness test.

Elsewhere, Bonnyrigg Rose play host to Linlithgow Rose and Camelon await a visit from Penicuik Athletic.
