Port and Saints head into Fife derby clash in confident mood

-

Both Tayport and St Andrews go into their Canniepairt Premier League clash on the back of good performances last week.

Despite losing to Linlithgow, Port boss Charlie King rated it their best performance of the season and has a full squad apart from the holidaying Jamie Mackie.

Saints boss Craig Morrison was delighted with Saints’ showing last week as they dumped Downfield.

The Fife side will be without the services of Rhory Mooney and Aidan Hendry.

Glenrothes will hope to bounce back from last week’s home derby defeat to Thornton Hibs when they play host to Dalkeith Thistle, especially given they were 3-2 winners in the first meeting.

Meanwhile, Thornton are at home to third-placed Haddington and will be desperate to build on last week’s success.

Downfield have a crucial contest away to bottom side Arniston Rangers .

The Spiders are too close for comfort to the drop zone and, having played more games than the four sides below them, badly need three points.

With a full squad and their hosts without a league win all season, their prospects of doing so look healthy.

Kirrie Thistle travel to Whitburn for a crunch fixture in the battle to stay up. Both are in the drop zone with Thistle a point better off but with a game more played.

Having scored just once in their last six league games the Westview outfit will hope the arrival of Abi Njie, who was on target in the cup win at Blairgowrie last week, will solve their scoring problems.
