Dundee will shortly have a Volunteer Motor Corps. Since the start of the Volunteers, almost three years ago, there has been no waning in enthusiasm and hundreds of men, who until then had but the merest acqaintance with military affairs, are today, due to the training, efficient soldiers and have benefited from a health point of view. Two masked men raided the penthouse apartment of wealthy Mr and Mrs Carling L. Dinkler, took a diamond ring valued at £39,200 and left Mrs Dinkler with a kiss on the cheek. After binding the couple, the ring was removed from Mrs Dinkler’s finger before the kiss was planted on her cheek.

One of the labourers involved in the repaving work said workers had been finding bones for two weeks. “It was suspected they were going to be there,” he said. “Bones have been excavated in the past.”

A crackdown on human trafficking saw two people arrested in a border police swoop on a Perth beauty salon. The Home Office teamed up with Police Scotland for a joint raid on the city’s Nail Icon as part of a sting on people smuggling. Two staff at the South Street shop were found to be working in the UK illegally. In recent years, nail bars have become targets for immigration enforcement teams because of their historical links with human traffickers in countries such as Vietnam.
