Changes to Perth bus timetable will come into force today

-

Major changes to Perth city bus services will be introduced by Stagecoach today.

The most radical change will be made to the number seven Hillhead service, as well as the 301 Broxden park and ride bus.

The two services will effectively be merged, with a frequency of 10 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes after 7pm and on Sundays.

Times were revised by Stagecoach following a public backlash over initial proposals which were dubbed a “recipe for disaster”.

Liberal Democrat councillor for Perth City South Willie Wilson welcomed the changes.

“These revised proposals from Stagecoach are a big improvement on their original ideas,” he said. “The number seven service will still serve Glasgow Road, Cherrybank and Oakbank Road and follow the existing route in an anticlockwise direction returning to the city centre via Alder Drive, Oakbank Road and Cherrybank in a 20 minute frequency.”

A 7A bus will serve Glasgow Road, Broxden park and ride, Lamberkine Drive, Ettrick Drive and Hillend Road and then follow the existing route via Viewlands Road West, Fairies Road and Oakbank Road in a clockwise direction.

The 7B service in the evenings and on Sundays will go via Glasgow Road, Broxden park and ride, Lamberkine Drive and then follow the existing number 7 route in a clockwise direction.

Mr Wilson added: “The existing 12 and 13 services will remain unchanged, as will numbers five and six in Craigie except on Sundays. The number 10 bus will be replaced with a number 14, operating on Burghmuir Road every half-an-hour.”
