Traffic concerns top agenda
Fears that a major expansion of the village of Stanley could pose a traffic danger have been outlined to councillors.
The proposal for 465 homes over the next 14 years was approved by the planning and development management committee, but they were told that all efforts must be made to ensure traffic flow and numbers are managed to avoid exacerbating existing problems and dangers.
At a meeting of the committee local councillors and residents sought reassurances that measures would be introduced to limit speeds and keep residents safe.
Council officers assured them that traffic calming and other measures would be examined as detailed plans were submitted. It was also predicted that the current high level of HGVs which go through Stanley would fall once the A9 dualling and cross Tay link road were in place.
Ewan McIntrye of EMA architects, who are acting for Muir Homes, outlined their vision for Stanley. He described the plans for areas of land to the north, south, east and west of the village as “aspirational, deliverable and achievable”.
He said the legacy of their plans included the money they would be contributing to community plans – £672,000 towards a sports hub, £30,000 for football pitches and £25,000 towards a link route to Luncarty. The committee unanimously agreed to the plans in principle.
