Man threatened ex in message

-

A man has admitted threatening his former girlfriend through a chilling Facebook message to her mother.

Calum Drysdale threatened to visit the woman’s home and “go through the door with (sic) a tonne of bricks”.

Drysdale claimed his actions were justified as he suspected his ex was behind a break-in at his home in which he says he lost £4,000 of goods.

Depute fiscal Tina Dickie told the court: “At 4pm the complainer received a Facebook message on her mobile phone.

“It said ‘you tell your thieving daftie daughter to give back what she stole from my house or I’m going through her door with a tonne of bricks. I’ll give her till 5pm or I’m taking the door off its hinges.’

“When the accused was interviewed by police he admitted sending the message.”

Solicitor David Holmes said Drysdale believed his ex was behind a theft from his home.

He said that when his client confronted her, she had taunted him through the door.

“He lost £4,000 of goods and only two items were returned,” he claimed.

Drysdale, of Viewfield Place, Perth, admitted that on July 19 he sent an offensive message to his former partner’s mother inferring that he would exact violence against her daughter and force entry to her house to do so.

Sheriff William Wood told the 20-year-old he had “run out of warning shots” and fined him £360.
