Top 10 winter walks listed
A selection of the top 10 best winter walks in Perth and Kinross has been compiled by a local outdoors charity.
Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust has assembled the list to encourage people to get out and about over the winter months.
The trust particularly recommends visiting stage two of the Cateran Trail, which leads from Kirkmichael to the Spittal of Glenshee via Enochdhu.
The section follows a moorland route to the trail’s highest point between Strathardle and Glenshee, where the path reaches 2,130ft (650 metres).
A trust spokesperson said: “Don’t forget to pop into the upper lunch hut to warm up a bit on your ascent and put your name next to some famous ones, like Queen Victoria, in the guest book.”
Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park, on the outskirts of Perth, also comes highly recommended.
The paths there vary in length from half a mile to fiveand-a-half miles and can take 15 minutes to three-and-a-half hours to walk.
The spokesperson added: “Kinnoull Hill sets the scene for all of Perthshire’s spectacular wooded winter wonderlands.”
Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust was founded in 1997. It is an independent charity that negotiates access to land, builds footpaths, and helps look after some of Scotland’s woodlands and trees,
