Caledonian Marts Ltd, Stirling, sold 236 cattle comprising 119 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 82 cast cows and bulls and 35 stirks and calves. Bullocks averaged 227p. Heifers averaged 233p. OTM cattle averaged 195p. Young bulls averaged 201p. Beef cows averaged 118p. Dairy cows averaged 95p. Bullocks sold to 255p for a Limousin from Brockwoodl­ees and to £1,744 for a Limousin from South Flanders.

Heifers sold to 268p again for a Limousin from Brockwoodl­ees and to £1,597 for the same animal.

Young bulls sold to 222p for a Limousin from Mains of Throsk and to £1,552 for the same animal. Leading prices ppkg:

Bullocks – 252p (twice) Brockwoodl­ees and Balquharra­ge; 248p Learielaw, Moorfield, Faskine and Balquharra­ge; 245p Moorfield.

Heifers – 260p Learielaw and Brockwoodl­ees; 252p Balquharra­ge and Learielaw; 250p Faskine; 248p (twice) Meadowend.

Also forward were 82 cast cows and bulls.

Beef cows averaged 118ppkg, selling to 167p for a Limousin from Mains of Burnbank, and to £1,330 for a Limousin from Wester Thomaston.

Dairy cows averaged 95ppkg, selling to 102p from Broompark, Torphichen and to £750 from Walton. Other leading prices:

Beef cows – £1,270 and £1,260 Hume of Overton; £1,170 Mains of Burnbank; £1,140 Wester Thomaston; £1,050 Nether Glinns.

Dairy cows – £720 Balgownie Mains; £700 and £690 Broompark; £690 Balgownie Mains; £670 Broompark.

Top price of the day for calves was £320 for a Limousin heifer from Mains of Burnbank. Other leading prices:
