No light at end of tunnel for Weir with injuries

-

The light at the end of the tunnel isn’t getting any brighter, as far as Forfar’s injury situation goes.

If anything, as manager Jim Weir reported, it has got a bit dimmer.

Weir – who is still without Simon Mensing, Mark Millar, Marc Scott, Scott McBride, Michael Kennedy and Murray MacKintosh for today’s trip to Airdrie – may also have to factor in the absence of David Cox.

“We’ll add another youngster to the squad,” said the Station Park boss.

“The injury to David last week at Arbroath upset us as we were on top when he had to go off.

“I was pleased with the reaction I got after our cup defeat, and obviously it was a bitter one to lose the game so late,” he said.

“You just hope that you get your share of last-minute goals at the other end over the course of a season.

“This will be another difficult match. Obviously the injuries don’t help, but we’ll be giving everything to win it.”

Forfar’s incentive is an obvious one – a win would take them on to the same points total as their opponents.

“It’s definitely a six-pointer,” said Weir.

“They’re coming off the back of a heavy defeat (to East Fife) and will be looking to get a response.

“We want to get back into the pack and put pressure on the teams above us.”
