Fifers raring to back up ‘brilliant’ victory

-

East Fife head to Hampden this afternoon to take on bottom-placed side Queen’s Park with confidence sky high after last Saturday’s 6-1 demolition of Airdrie.

Manager Darren Young said: “Kickoff cannot come quickly enough for me.

“I want to go out with the same team and the same formation, and hopefully that will get us the same performance and result.

“It was a brilliant, brilliant performance from the team and one everyone should be very proud of.

“We lost a goal after 30 seconds but within five minutes we had created three chances and showed that we had put that behind us.

“Just when it looked like it could have been one of those days, we got level and we went on to play really well.

“We are now going to a big pitch and a big platform at Hampden and will look to do the same.”

The display against the Diamonds was helped by the lessening of the injury problems that affected Young’s squad earlier in the season.

He added: “The benefit of having almost an entire squad to choose from was seen last weekend, and we are on the exact same lines this time.”

A win could see East Fife end the day in the top four. However, Young did offer a note of caution.

“Despite the excitement we cannot just turn up and win. Queen’s Park will make life difficult for us, as they always do.

“They showed at our place earlier in the season that they will sit in and look to hit on the break,” he added.
