Support local business on Small Business Saturday

-

Black Friday and Cyber Monday tend to dominate the headlines when it comes to shopping at this time of year, with business giants like Amazon offering the best deals. But, there’s a special event designed to highlight and celebrate the work of local business people across the UK.

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots campaign which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to shop local and support small businesses in their communities. And in Courier Country we are lucky to have so many small, artisanal businesses creating fantastic goods and services.

This year’s Small Business Saturday will be held on Saturday, December 2, and will see customers making a point of supporting small businesses of all type, in person or online. And many celebrate the occasion with special events and offers.

Already Small Business Saturday is seeing great positive impact in the UK. In 2016, research after the day suggested that consumers spent £717m with small businesses on Small Business Saturday, an increase of 15 per cent on 2015 spending.

Shopping local also means that often you are helping your friends and neighbours’ businesses. They then spend the money they make locally, so that money stays in the local economy.

So make Small Business Saturday part of your Christmas shopping agenda and pick up something special that also supports your local business people and wider community.
