King: United will get better

Billy King insists that tabletopping Dundee United will continue to improve as new boss Csaba Laszlo’s footballing philosophy rubs off on them.

The Tangerines retained their place at the summit of the Championship on Saturday thanks to the ultimately comfortable win over Morton at Cappelow.

King, who signed for the club during the summer, opened his league goalscoring account for United with both counters in the 2-0 win.

His first was a cracker and put the finishing touch to some neat interplay between his team-mates.

That emphasis on playing the ball on the deck is something Laszlo has been drilling into the team and King believes it is really starting to pay dividends.

When asked what the new manager has been like since he took over at Tannadice, the 23-yearold replied: “He’s all about football – playing out from the back, passing, retaining the ball, making the other team work hard to get it back.

“He came in and said that was the best way for us to play.

“With Scott McDonald up front, we can’t really play balls in behind or drop them into him because he is small.

“The best way is to pass it. It was tricky against Morton on a bumpy pitch but at Tannadice we can do it better.

“I didn’t see much of United last year but the gaffer has put in a style on the team which is all about passing.

“We work on a lot of tactical stuff during the week, the boys are improving all the time and you can see it’s working with three wins and a draw so far in the league under him.”
