Drug dealer who preyed on girls aged 14 and 15 walks free

A drug dealer who peddled cannabis to children and drove off with one youngster’s mother hanging off his car has been allowed to walk free from court and continue driving.

Jason Moir had given cannabis to 14 and 15-year-old girls and was confronted by a mother who had suspicions about what he had been doing.

She spoke to him as he sat in his car and when she suspected he was telling lies about his involvement she tried to grab hold of him. Moir drove off at speed.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told Perth Sheriff Court she was injured as a result of being dragged along the street in Aberfeldy.

A sheriff chose not to send 32-year-old Moir to prison despite his telling the court he had confessed to breaking court rules by continuing to have contact with one of the teens.

Sheriff Pino di Emidio did, however, tell Moir he was so concerned by what he’d told social workers he was asking court staff to draw the matter to the attention of prosecutors for further consideration.

Moir, of The Square, Aberfeldy, was found guilty of supplying cannabis to under-16s in the town between September 15 2016 and January 21 2017.

He was also found guilty of injuring a woman by dragging her along the street and driving carelessly in Aberfeldy on October 12 last year.

He admitted a third charge of repeatedly texting and meeting one teenage girl in July 2017 after he had been placed on bail in February with a condition not to contact her.

Moir was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work, fined £400 and had six penalty points placed on his licence.
