Killie hit back to reelin Staggies

-

Kilmarnock battled from two goals down to claim a precious Ladbrokes Premiership point at Ross County last night.

Two goals inside 10 first-half minutes from Chris Routis and Jason Naismith appeared to have set the Staggies on course for a home win, especially with Killie having lost two players – Gordon Greer and Stuart Findlay – to injury.

But the visitors produced a stirring display after the interval, and goals from Eamonn Brophy and Kris Boyd earned them a draw.

County manager Owen Coyle was left to rue the result and several missed chances.

“It feels like you have lost the game when we have picked up a valuable point,” the 51-year-old said. “It could have been three and it should have been three.

“Some of the football in the first half was outstanding.

“We are disappointed especially after some of the football we played in the first half.

“If we replicate that first half then we will win more games.”

Killie boss Steve Clarke said: “We have to credit the players for the second half performance.

“This keeps the run going and from the last three games – two away and one home – we have picked up seven points. So if we continue that we will be alright.” Attendance: 3,021
