Foodbank appeals for donations

-

Residents in Strathearn are being asked to help feed hungry families this festive season.

A collection in aid of the Perth and Kinross Foodbank will take place in St Kessog’s Square in Comrie, tomorrow, from 10am until noon.

Donations will be passed to the foodbank’s distribution base in Crieff, which is located in the Logos Youth Centre in the High Street.

The base is open from 1.30pm to 3pm on Tuesdays and from 10am to 11.30am on Fridays.

A spokesperson for the Perth and Kinross Foodbank said: “Locals will be on hand to give interested people more information and to take donations to help those in our community who are in need.

“The Crieff foodbank distribution centre is particularly busy because of people having issues with Universal Credit and housing or rent matters. These people are always running short of the same items – long-life milk, fruit juice, main meals, coffee and cereal.

“They are grateful for toiletries and any gifts or extras for Christmas.”

The foodbank provides three-day packs of nutritionally balanced emergency food, as well as support, to local residents who are referred by various frontline professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers and Citizen’s Advice staff.
