Raith out for revenge in clash of Rovers

Raith Rovers host an Albion Rovers side that ended their bright start to the League One season in September.

Defeating them on their own ground, though, should be a much more difficult proposition.

Manager Barry Smith said: “We have been strong at home all season and we will look to keep that going.

“We have won eight games out of eight here and we will be going all out to make that nine from nine.

“Albion Rovers have experience in their ranks but we know that we did not play well at their place and that contributed to losing the game.

“If we defend better and ensure that we do not give anything away like we did at Cliftonhill then we can get the the points.”

Raith slipped five points behind leaders Ayr United last weekend when they drew 2-2 at Airdrie, with Smith praising his men for playing to the final whistle.

The Kirkcaldy boss said: “It was a freezing cold day, we were not playing well and were a goal behind.

“That could have led to some players switching off. However, they stuck at things and got the equaliser in injurytime.

“When we come to the end of the season that could turn out to be a valuable point gained, as opposed to two points dropped, so we have taken it and moved on.”

Jamie Watson is a doubt and Kevin Cuthbert, Kyle Benedictus, John Herron and Kevin McHattie have been ruled out again. Iain Davidson and Bobby Barr have agreed to be involved despite being less than 100% fit.

Smith said: “We have a good spirit with everyone pulling together as can be seen by the commitments the players are making.”
