Texel gimmer istopseller

-

Texels sold to a top of 17,000gn at the breed’s Select Seven sale at Lanark.

Leading the sale was a gimmer from Hugh and Alan Blackwood’s Auldhouseburn flock at Muirkirk, Ayrshire.

By the 24,000gn Glenside Willie Winkie and out of a daughter of the 145,000gn Knap Vicious Sid, she sold carrying to the 130,000gn Sportsman A Star.

The buyers were the Bennett family, who run the Plasucha flock at Welshpool.

Next best at 10,000gn was an entry from Gordon and David Gray’s Ettrick flock at Selkirk.

By Shannagh Won O Won and out of a dam by Ettrick Rainbow Warrior, she sold empty for winter flushing to the Blackwoods for their Auldhouseburn flock.

Thereafter, well-known Aberdeenshire breeder Albert Howie sold to a top of 9,000gn for an entry from his Knock flock at West Knock, Stuartfield, Peterhead.

Mr Howie’s sale topper was an Ettrick U Cracker daughter, out of a dam by Cambwell Rob Roy.

She sold in-lamb to the 24,000gn Allanfauld Am The Man to Perthshire breeder Robert Cockburn for his Knap flock.

The Knock flock also achieved 4,400gn for another Ettrick U Cracker daughter, this time out of a dam by Knock Orion. She sold in-lamb to the same sire as the 9,000gn entry to M Paterson, Crumlin.

Close behind at 4,200gn was the first Knock entry in the ring – a Tophill Wall St daughter out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle. In-lamb to the same Allanfauld sire, she sold to Karen Wight, Midlock.

Meanwhile, an Ettrick gimmer sold for 5,000gn with all proceeds going to the Doddie MND Foundation – the charity set up by former Scotland rugby star Doddie Weir to fund research into motor neurone disease.

By Knock Papoose and out of a dam by Sportsmans Unimog, she sold in-lamb to Hartside All Star to Alan Campbell, Strawfank.
