Bollan’s Blue Brazil aim to get off bottom spot

If we can get the three points … then everyone at the club will take a lift

Cowdenbeath are hoping to beat the weather and get themselves off the bottom of League Two.

Gary Bollan’s side sit just two points behind Edinburgh City, despite not playing in the past three weeks, and the Blue Brazil boss is hoping that the Central Park pitch gets the OK for tonight’s clash with Stenhousemuir.

He said: “Saturday’s game with Clyde was correctly called off as the surface was frozen but this one could go ahead.

The frost is beginning to lift and hopefully that will continue as we want the game played.

“Stenhousemuir are a good side who have experienced players that know their way about this league – however, we will be going out looking to win.

“It will be difficult, but if we can get the three points and climb a place then everyone at the club will take a lift.”

Bollan kept his players busy at the weekend despite their game being called off.

He added: “We managed to get a bounce game against a junior side which allowed everyone to get some game time in their legs.

“We would much rather be playing real games but we are still learning together and that game helped with that.”

The Fifers boss has also been able to extend Blair Malcolm’s loan period from Ross County by another month.

Bollan said: “Blair has only been able to play two games for us due to the weather – however, he has been terrific – he has been playing as a left-back and he has taken the opportunity to show what he can do in midfield well.

“He is a real competitor and I am delighted and grateful that Owen Coyle agreed that he could stay for a while longer.”

David Syme remains suspended, with Joe McGovern and Josh Morris both injured.
