Changes to bin collections

-

Perth and Kinross Council has announced changes to its bin collection service over New Year.

There will be no kerbside pick-ups on January 1 and 2, with normal collections resuming on Wednesday January 3.

A spokeswoman said: “Unless written to directly, householders scheduled to have their green or blue bins emptied on January 1 will instead have their bins emptied on Saturday, December 30.

“Those scheduled to have their green or blue bins emptied on January 2, will instead have their bins emptied on Wednesday, January 3.”

There will be no brown bin collections until January 6.

Businesses that were due to have kerbside collections on the New Year bank holidays will be notified by letter of date changes.

Residents are also being reminded that the council will not pick up excess waste from the kerbside.

“All waste types should only be presented for collection inside a wheeled bin with the lid closed by 7.30am on the day of collection,” the spokeswoman said. “If householders do have excess waste, recycling centres are open over the remainder of the festive period.”

Meanwhile, council bosses are preparing to reintroduce an annual charge for the collection of garden waste. Starting in April, households will have to apply for a £25 garden waste permit to continue having brown bins collected.
