More still to come from Dark Blues after winter break, says Haber

Dundee can improve even more after the winter break, according to striker Marcus Haber.

The Canadian forward, who helped the Dark Blues to a Tayside derby victory at McDiarmid Park with his early opening goal, believes results are starting to reflect performance levels.

And the rise in the form curve hasn’t finished yet.

“We’re looking to improve every week,” said Haber.

“We feel we have improved a lot over the last couple of months with the way we are playing. At the beginning of the season I don’t think our results reflected that.

“No, though, we’re combining that with getting points.

“Winning (against St Johnstone) gets a little bit of space between ourselves and the bottom of the table.”

First team starts have been few and far between for Haber this season, with Sofien Moussa, Faissal El Bakhtaoui and A-Jay LeitchSmith all getting more game-time than the former Saints and West Brom player.

By the time the season resumes there could be even more competition for places, with manager Neil McCann expected to bring in another attacking option.

“It’s always frustrating,” said Haber of being on the bench or in the stand.

“You want to contribute. I’ve stayed ready and football has a way of giving you another chance to come in. You always need to be ready when you’re coming into the team.

“The boys have been playing well but my number was called on Saturday and I was happy to get a goal. I just wanted to contribute.

“We’ve got a number of players who can play in certain spots so there is a lot of competition for the attacking places. I always want to do well but the main thing is getting the three points.“
