Tansey’s delight at loan move to Staggies

-

Greg Tansey is determined to put a frustrating period with Aberdeen behind him by revitalising his career with Ross County.

Tansey completed a loan move to County this week, only six months after leaving the Staggies’ Highland rivals Caley Thistle to join the Dons.

The Englishman has been limited to 10 starts for Derek McInnes’ men this term, having undergone a groin operation in September to fix a problem he first identified in pre-season.

Having been in and out of the Aberdeen side all season, Tansey feels he can benefit from a fresh start in familiar surroundings, having spent four-and-a-half years with Inverness over two spells.

Tansey said: “It has been frustrating.

“I have been very lucky with injuries up until this season and I felt something when we went away for a pre-season week at St Andrews.

“I felt it then and didn’t really think anything of it but it just gradually built itself up.

“I didn’t know what was going to happen. Sometimes you get setbacks in football when you least expect it. Sometimes they’re out of your control, sometimes it’s your own fault.

“I’m just looking forward to the second half of the season now and really kicking on. I’ve just got to move on, really.

“When I heard the interest from Ross County, and with a bit of thought with the Inverness connection, I came to the conclusion I like it here.

“It’s a no-brainer to come here and get settled straight away and get back to work and doing what I love.”

Tansey is confident his injury worries are behind him as he aims to help County climb the table, having fallen three points adrift at the foot of the Premiership prior to the winter break.

Tansey is still contracted to Pittodrie until 2020 but he says he is not looking beyond his spell at Dingwall, adding: “I’m just looking at the next six months, that’s all.”
