O’Hara sure rewards await for Dark Blues

Dundee midfielder Mark O’Hara is confident possession will be turned into points when the Premiership restarts.

O’Hara, 22, has been one of the stars of the season so far for the Dark Blues, most notably scoring the two goals that beat Rangers at Dens in late November.

He has been delighted with his own form and the style of play championed by manager Neil McCann and assistant boss Graham Gartland.

O’Hara has received plenty praise himself, while plaudits have poured down on the team at times despite their still sitting thirdbottom, just two points above the relegation play-off spot.

A climb up the table is on the cards, according to O’Hara, when the league action gets under way again at home to Hibs on January 24.

He said: “Obviously, we have not got the results we have felt our performances have justified.

“We have made enough chances in the games and maybe not got the rub of the green in the final third, but the signs for the long term are very encouraging.

“It is a great style of play that we have and we have been dominating teams.

“So, hopefully, in the second half of the season that will show for more points than we have been getting.

“The system we have been playing has been exciting.

“Glen (Kamara) has been sitting in front of the defence, and myself and Gowser (Paul McGowan) have been trying to get in touch with the strikers.

“Obviously, I have been scoring a few goals and, against Motherwell, Gowser scored a brilliant goal.”

O’Hara’s deal finishes at the end of the season but he is expected to agree a new one before long.

Getting time on the park appears to have persuaded him to stick around.

He added: “The last five or six games have been encouraging.

“I have had a good run in the team and have been scoring goals.

“I have to thank the manager for giving me the chance, and I have been enjoying my football recently.

“At the start of the season I was in and out of the team.

“Then I had a wee run and then I was in and out of the team again.

“I was always working hard, doing extra stuff to try to catch the manager’s eye.

“I always knew I would get a chance and I have taken it.”
