Precious cargo

“I enjoyed seeing the photographs of Lower Largo in the Traces Through Time feature,” says an Angus reader.

“When I was young, we spent several very happy family holidays in Lower Largo, enjoying the beach, watching the thriving sailing scene and developing a fondness for Robinson Crusoe as we passed his statue on a daily basis.

“As we were holidaying in the summer, one of the treats I can remember is being sent along to one of the shops with a big glass bowl and asking the ladies there for the requisite number of scoops of ice cream to cater for the family.

“The scoops were duly placed in the bowl and my siblings and I would get back along to our holiday house as quickly as possible, fiercely guarding the precious cargo. Happy days indeed!”
