Motorists may experience delays due to roadworks set to begin on the A90 Perth to Dundee road on Monday.

The £230,000 resurfacing work will take place on the southbound carriageway of the road between the Kinfauns Interchange and the junction for Walnut Grove near the busy Friarton Bridge.

They will begin around 7.30pm on Monday and last five nights. Bear Scotland has claimed this stretch of the A90 is used by nearly 19,000 vehicles every day.

The southbound lane will be closed with a convoy system operating and a 10mph speed limit put in place. The northbound carriageway will not be affected by the roadworks.

A spokesperson for Bear Scotland said the work will run until 6.30am each night in order to “minimise” any impact on traffic.

“The £230,000 overnight project will upgrade the condition of the southbound carriageway at Kinfauns, helping to create a smoother and safer road surface,” she said.

“As traffic management is necessary to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users during the project, we’ve planned the works to take place overnight when traffic volumes are reduced to minimise any impact to road users as much as possible.

“These works will repair a number of cracks, potholes and other surfacing issues.

“The works are programmed to take five nights and our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly as they can.”

She added that variable messaging signs are also in place on the A90 to provide further information.

The roadworks were originally scheduled to take place in early December.
