Post Office proposes new site

-

The Post Office is proposing to move the Blairgowrie office from its current location to create a modern main-style branch following the resignation of its current agent.

The new location would be within the Pricekracker store in the town’s Perth Street, just 450 metres from the existing site at the Co-operative in the Wellmeadow.

Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the proposed move as part of a six-week public consultation process.

The current branch will close on March 1 and while bosses hope to restore the service as swiftly as possible, no time frame has yet been finalised.

The new branch would have two serving positions and would be open from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am until 4pm on Saturdays.

The consultation will close on February 23.

Submissions can be made by emailing comments@postoffice.co.uk or by completing a quick questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk, using the branch code 286820.

Regional network manager Kenny Lamont said he hoped locals would welcome the proposed changes.

“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect mail and do banking because we know how important these services are.

“I’m confident this new-style post office will meet the needs of local residents,” he added.
