Woman cut from car after suffering serious injuries in A9 crash
Long tailbacks after two vehicles collide at Dalnaspidal
A woman has been seriously injured following a two-car crash near Blair Atholl.
The motorist was one of two people trapped following the “serious” incident at Dalnaspidal yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews cut her from her vehicle and it is understood that the air ambulance took her to hospital.
Her injuries are understood to be life-threatening.
The male driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to an RTC on the A9 at Dalnaspidal. The request came from the ambulance service at 1pm.
“Two vehicles are involved and there are two casualties. We have cut one from a car and remain on site along with police and ambulance.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We, along with other emergency services, are currently in attendance at a two-car road traffic collision on the A9 south of Dalwhinnie.
“Two persons are injured, one seriously. The road is currently blocked in both directions and will remain so for some time.”
The crash caused long tailbacks for four to five miles in the area, with vehicles forced to divert via the A82 Glencoe road.
The crash comes just days after two drivers escaped serious injury after an early morning crash in the same area.
The accident happened north of Blair Atholl, near House of Bruar, in the early hours of Saturday.
A lorry travelling south was involved in a head-on collision with a northbound car, Police Scotland said. The lorry ended up in a ditch, blocking the carriageway. Its driver suffered slight facial injuries.
Both motorists were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Police confirmed neither man suffered serious injuries. Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.30am.
The route was reopened before 8am after the vehicles were recovered.
