Loons look to Staggies for goal-getter after See’s exit

-

Forfar could turn to promising Ross County striker Ross McIver to replace Ousman See.

The Station Park club have made an inquiry about the 18-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Highland League side Wick Academy.

See, who joined the Loons in the summer after impressing for Edinburgh City last season, made little impact at the club and was transferred to Berwick last week for a nominal fee.

Manager Jim Weir said: “Ousman leaving has created a gap in our squad and I am trying to fill it.

“Ross’s name was put to me and I am doing some research but nothing has been agreed.”

Weir, meanwhile, was both “delighted and relieved” with the Loons’ 4-2 victory over Albion Rovers on Saturday.

“When you have been on a run like we have, it’s a hard one for the players and difficult for the supporters,” Weir said. “But they are cup finals for us now.

“That was one of those six-pointers, where you have got to make sure you come out the other end of it with a victory.

“We are at the point of the season where draws are not much good.

“To be fair to the players the last couple of games we have lost, we have really put up a fight and the supporters have seen that.

“Everyone knows about the injuries we have had.

“We signed Dale Hilson and then he picks up an injury at the end of last week’s game.

“I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this but it is certainly testing my nerves.”

With no league fixture on Saturday, Forfar have arranged a friendly match against an Aberdeen reserve/U20 XI at Station Park on Thursday, 7.30pm.

Admission charges are adults £5, concessions £3, with season tickets valid.
