Top weight should not hamper Saint’s chances of taking the top prize

SAINT CALVADOS

can shrug off the burden of top weight in the Betfred Mobile Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Newbury.

A three-timer winner over hurdles in France, the five-year-old made a dream start for Harry Whittington at this track at the end of last month, winning a four-runner event by nine lengths.

There were only two finishers that day, but it is hard to find fault with the style in which Saint Calvados won and he should be capable of more.

KUPATANA can strike for Nicky Henderson in the Betfred TV British Stallion Studs EBF Mares’ “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle.

A point-to-point winner last March, Kupatana changed hands for £120,000 the following month and connections will surely be disappointed if she is not in the mix here.

Henderson can enjoy a double in Berkshire with OK CORRAL expected to deliver in the Betfred “Homes of Goals Galore” Novices Hurdle.

Barry Geraghty is booked for the ride. DISSAVRIL is one to watch as she makes her debut for Emma Lavelle in the Listed 188Bet Alan Swinbank Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Market Rasen.

The five-year-old was placed a couple of times in France on the level so she certainly knows her job.

LE ROCHER is the pick in the Weatherbys Racing Bank Graduation Chase, which has attracted a small but relatively select field.

Nick Williams’ Grade Two-winning hurdler is two from two over fences and while he had to work rather harder than odds of 1-10 suggested he would last time out at Exeter, the experience will not have been lost on him and this longer trip is much more up his street.
