Nightclub ban for man who headbutted fellow reveller

-

A reveller has been banned from a Perth nightspot for two years after breaking another man’s nose in an altercation over a woman.

Nolan Miller had been talking to the woman in the city’s Loft nightclub when Karim Bajjawi stormed up and told him she was his ex-partner.

The 32-year-old then headbutted the man, leaving him in need of hospital treatment.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court Bajjawi was ordered to pay his victim compensation.

Depute fiscal Bill Kermode told the court: “At 12.30am the witness was in the Loft nightclub with some other friends.

“Mr Miller began talking to a female at about 2.30am.

“He was approached by the accused who started arguing with him and stated the woman was his ex-girlfriend.

“The accused then headbutted Mr Miller, causing his nose to burst.”

He said Bajjawi left the club after the attack but was traced after the victim alerted staff.

Mr Nolan was told by medics at Ninewells Hospital that he would need to have his nose realigned.

Solicitor Billy Somerville, defending, said: “He consumed too much alcohol.

“He accepts his behaviour and that it is unacceptable – he should have walked away.”

Bajjawi, of Hospital Street, Perth, admitted assaulting Mr Miller at the Loft nightclub on Perth’s South Street by headbutting him on January 29 2017.

Noting that the accused had a “significant” record, including crimes of violence, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis fined him £1,200 and ordered him to pay £750 in compensation.
