Post office relocation sparks parking and congestion worries
Blairgowrie residents are urged to have their say on future plans for the town’s post office.
The service is being relocated from its current location in the Wellmeadow to the PriceKracker store on Perth Road.
But the move, which follows the current leaseholder’s resignation, has prompted concerns about road safety, with locals claiming that customers will have difficulty parking outside.
There are also worries about disabled access and store size.
Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser is encouraging locals to share their views as part of a six-week consultation.
The Wellmeadow outlet is scheduled to close on March 1.
Mr Fraser said: “I know that there has been considerable local chatter around the suitability of the proposed new location and now is the time for people to have their say.
“The Post Office is open to feedback and are keen to know exactly what would make this new site a success and it’s incumbent on anyone with a view to get in touch.”
He added: “With the consultation closing so close to the relocation date, I would hope that the public’s views are properly heard and this consultation isn’t just window dressing.
“Accessing Post Office services is incredibly important and it’s vital that they get the location right from the start.”
PriceKracker owner Sandy Sarwar has assured Post Office bosses that the Perth Road outlet will be suitable.
