New lease of life for Galloway offices

- Graham huband

The former home of collapsed Dundee engineer Galloway Group is being brought back into use after being sold to a property investment company.

The firm’s sizeable office and workshop unit at Arrol Road, Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate, lay empty for months after the firm ceased trading in August 2016 after racking up a multimillion-pound debt mountain.

More than 160 jobs were lost when Galloway went to the wall.

On the instruction of joint administrators EY, the 4.3 acres site was marketed for sale by chartered surveyors Graham & Sibbald (G&S), with a guide price of £1.95 million.

G&S has now confirmed the building has been sold, but the purchase price is undisclosed.

Efforts to refurbish and re-let the space are now being taken forward by West Ranga Property Group, a company registered to an address in Commercial Street, Dundee.

Marketing materials show the new owners have brought forward plans to sublet the site into four, with three units in the main building and a fourth separate space also available.

One unit has been pre-let to Swedish headquartered trucks, coach and engines group Scania.

It is expected that Scania will move into its new premises next month.

The remaining units range in size from 8,170 sq ft to 67,218 sq ft and are suitable for a range of industrial and warehousing applications.
