Caledonia star gets ready for solo Celtic Connections performance
Singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean is gearing up for a major solo performance.
The Caledonia star will play Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of the Celtic Connections festival on January 24.
Promoters said the concert would bring together some of MacLean’s best loved songs and anthems, as well as new tunes from his latest album New Tomorrow.
It will be his first solo concert at the festival since a sell-out show at the same auditorium in 2004.
“I am really looking forward to performing at Celtic Connections next week,” he said. “The Concert Hall in Glasgow is a magnificent venue, the acoustics are fantastic.
“I always get a lovely warm welcome in Glasgow and the international Celtic Connections audiences are wonderful.”
MacLean, who runs his own festival Perthshire Amber, added: “I’m planning a night filled with old favourites mixed with a few new songs that I hope the audience will really appreciate. I hope they’re all getting ready to raise the roof with a couple of those choruses.”
MacLean, from Dunkeld, is best known for his international hit Caledonia, as well as music from the film Last Of The Mohicans.
He has played all over the globe, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and London’s Festival Theatre.
