Gable Endies refuse to be complacent: Petrie

Montrose can extend their lead at the top of League Two to four points if they see off a Clyde team that have yet to win under Danny Lennon.

Links Park boss Stewart Petrie was, however, quick to point out that nothing will be taken for granted against the Bully Wee.

He said: “Clyde are going through a period of transition and Danny will get things right for them.

“In David Goodwillie they have a striker that has scored more than any of our players but they have still not found the best way of using David’s goals to win games.

“I know that they had been playing with just David up front but Danny is now trying something different and last weekend they had what you would call a traditional target man playing alongside him.

“He will keep trying things until he gets it right and we just need to ensure that does not come against us.”

Petrie’s side go into the contest on the back of a 2-0 win at Edinburgh City.

“It was another good game to win as it kept us at the top of the table,” he said.

“It has been a good response from the players after the disappointments of losing to Peterhead and then drawing with Cowdenbeath either side of the New Year.

“We moved on from those games by winning at Annan a fortnight ago but last weekend’s win was just as important as it came on a day when we had not started well. I would happily take another 2-0 win just now.”

Ryan Ferguson and Danny Cavanagh are set to leave on loan to help them regain match fitness after lengthy injury absences and Michael Bolochoweckyj is a doubt after being ill. Iain Campbell and Martyn Fotheringham could return.
