Tractor World Show heads for Ingliston

-

Ever since the Millennium Century of Farm Power exhibition at Ingliston in 2000, Scottish vintage and classic farm machinery enthusiasts have longed for a similar type of event north of the border.

This year will see this happen when Mark Woodward brings his Tractor World Show to the Royal Highland Showground at Ingliston on March 24-25.

Formerly held at Lawrie and Symington’s premises at Lanark, the event recently outgrew itself and now moves to a roomier site and quieter place on the calendar.

Hopefully this will help establish the event as a regular on the circuit.

These Tractor World shows often draw a huge number of traders selling new and used parts, lubricant and paint suppliers, books and DVDs, models, gifts and clothing.

Pentland Auctions, who are holding the Saturday auction, already have a number of iconic lots entered, from parts and models to full-sized tractors, vehicles and farm machinery.

Equipment condition ranges from off-farm to concourse restorations and includes some extremely rare machines.

More details are available at www.pentlandlivestock.co.uk or from Graham Burke on 07547 369295.

The indoor and outdoor event will see some top restored machines sitting alongside a number of real rare birds providing a great spectacle for visitors.

Some of the highlights for this event include 100 years of John Deere, model displays, stationary engines, horticultural machinery, classic plant and a classic truck and van show.

One popular feature is the number of club stands, ranging from the regional vintage clubs to the national one, as organisations use the event to put on a public face and recruit new members.

Most will put on comprehensive displays to highlight their work and to draw more attention than their competitors.
