Pothole action promised
Action has been promised by Perth and Kinross Council to tackle potholes in Crieff.
Local man Craig Finlay has been pressing for repairs to the damaged road outside the sheltered housing social care complex in Crieff’s Duchlage Court.
“Residents and family members got in touch with me in early 2015 when I was a member of Crieff Community Council to raise concerns over the poor road surface directly in front of the home,” he said.
“Almost three years on the road is still in a bad state. The deep potholes are filled in, temporarily, now and again but it is not sufficient to make the road safe for residents with limited mobility, including wheelchair and zimmer frame users.”
The council said they inspect after reports of potholes and carried out an inspection in September following contact from a local elected member but it was judged there were no actionable safety defects on the road at that time.
“Now that we have been made aware of this recent deterioration we will take appropriate action,” said a council spokesperson.
“We currently have over 94 sites on the future works list for this type of surface application and we need to make assessments each year as speed of deterioration differs.
“We commence doing this late January, aiming to prioritise available funding to the sites most in need for programming in the new financial year.”
