FIFE AC TO FORE

Logan Rees spearheade­d a successful day for Fife AC, winning the senior men’s race at the final round of the East of Scotland CrossCount­ry League at Broxburn, writes our athletics correspond­ent.

Over an icy, snow-covered course Rees completed the testing five miles in 27.34, nine seconds clear of runnerup Aiden Thompson (Central).

Fife AC women won the overall aggregate female trophy for the first time since 2004. Jo Williams (Lothian RC) scored her best result ever, winning the senior women’s race, while Halina Rees in seventh led Fife to third team place.

The Fife AC U13 girls’ first team place virtually secured the female aggregate trophy, led by Isla Hedley in second place.

Pitreavie dominated the U11 girls with three runners in the top four
