A man who was caught with cannabis in his home has been ordered to appear for sentencing at court on February 21.

Perth Sheriff Court heard Matthew Hands, 35, of Grampian Court, Perth, had his house searched by police after they obtained a warrant.

Depute fiscal Tina Dickie said: “Officers carried out a systematic search of the accused’s home and found various items. The police found a jar containing nine wraps of cannabis.

“The drugs recovered had a street value of £310.”

The court heard police also found Hands’ mobile phone and analysed data on the device.

“Officers discovered scores of messages relating to conversations about drugs,” Miss Dickie added.

Hands admitted that between May 1 and 30 2017, he was concerned in the supply of cannabis – a class B drug – at his home.

Sentence was deferred for background reports.

Also at court: Joshua Gregory, 26, of Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee, was fined £400 after admitting breaking a bail condition forbidding him from turning up at his former partner’s home.

The court heard the woman was in her house around 9pm when a neighbour saw Gregory walking in Bridge of Earn on December 1.

“This person saw the accused walking directly towards the woman’s house,” depute fiscal Tina Dickie said. “The witness called at the woman’s home to tell her and police were called.”

Solicitor Jamie Baxter, defending, said his client had been in a relationship with the complainer, but they had since broken up.
